FeatherBow
FeatherBow
Every once in a while an ingenious device comes along that has an impact on the market place. One
such product is the FeatherBow, and FeatherBow Jr. While doing a trade show in Maine this past fall,
we had the pleasure of meeting Mike Coderre, the inventor of FeatherBow. Mike is quite a remarkable gentleman,
and as we had a booth directly opposite his, we were able to talk with him, but more importantly, watch him
demonstrate his invention.

This is a device that anyone using a table saw or router table should give some serious
consideration to. After all, the more we can do to increase the safety level of our work, the better. This
device, while not expensive, is quite clever in design, and very useful in preventing kick backs. It will also
improve the quality of work by simply keeping the feed process smooth. Anyone who has routed a piece of molding
and ended up with a wavy edge detail can appreciate this.
The product, while new on the market has already been reviewed by Popular Woodworking Magazine, in
the Dec. '06 issue. This is a pretty good indicator as to it's value and usefulness. It has become a quick
selling product already, and rightfully so.
Anyone who has invented a device, gone through the patent process, and is successfully marketing
it, has our respect, as it is not an easy proposition. It is quite difficult to do, and takes a considerable
investment. The fact that Mike has done this is a feat in itself, and it shows his commitment to his invention.
I know this first hand, through my own invention. Another fact to consider is the fact it's made in the USA. We
all know it is far cheaper to have things manufactured overseas, and imported, just as we know the product
suffers in quality. This too, is a plus in our book, as it shows commitment to the buyers of the product,
instead of the almighty dollar.
