Formula for Veneer Flattener, or softener
Some veneers are very brittle. It is necessary to soften them, which will accomplish two things. One is
it will flatten them as discussed in the previous article. The second, is the possibility of adding a little glue to the mixture, which
will act as a sizing, and also strenthen the veneer, while leaving it pliable. I haven't found the need to add glue, as the first formula
hasn't failed us yet.
Formula one:
1 gallon water
eight ounces glycerin - found at local drug stores - see photo below
eight ounces denatured alcohol

Formula Two
15 ounces Weldwood glue (powder) or ordinary wheat flour could be used
28 ounces water
14 ounces glycerin
7 ounces denatured alcohol
